ALL IN THE DETAILS: Going Green

“It’s not easy being green.” Practically everyone knows these famous lines sung by some of the greats. But what if it actually is quite easy to be green or to go green at least?

Green has been seen scattered throughout spring 2015 runways. However, it is not a bright kelly or chartreuse that walks with the models, but rather subdued shades of camouflage and army green. The hues are a demonstration of the powerful and tough utilitarian, counter-culture trend to that of the free flowing hippie style this season. The sweater dress that this Fashionista sports fits the bill and is actually reminiscent of this look from Sonia Rykiel.

Militaristic colors carry out a stylistic resistance to the bright blooms of other spring 2015 runways and contrast the brighter greens of springtime grass and fauna in our day-to-day. This Fashionista shows off a camouflage green in a brilliant way for the start of the season. The loose fitting pullover boasts a chunky knit to stay warm during the cooler days of the season, but the short hem makes it extremely versatile.

Though blessed with brilliant sunshine, this particular day carried a cool breeze. This Fashionista’s great green dress was paired wonderfully with sheer tights under knit over-the-knee socks. She demonstrates a perfect way to introduce shorter spring hems while still keeping comfortable and cozy on the walk to class.

The mossy green pops against the otherwise all-black ensemble. Tying back to trends from Sonia Rykiel, this Fashionista wears black galore—with some grommets to boot (pun intended). The hardware could be spotted on all sorts of accessories amongst the spring shows. Along with the gritty green, the black and hardware accents tie in to the utilitarian trend.

How To: Though she does add in a touch of pink in her beauty details, this Fashionista’s ensemble is no nonsense. Follow suit by going green with militaristic outerwear, a camouflage-colored dress, actual camouflage print or by incorporating the subdued hues into your beauty routine. Cady Heron wore army pants, after all. It’ll be green. It’ll be grool, and it’ll be great for spring.
