GUEST BLOGGER FEATURE: Glisters and Blisters
08Dec 10
When picking my Guest Blogger of the Month I really put time and effort into choosing a blogger who is unique from the oversaturated world of bloggers. I knew Michelle from Glisters and Blisters was going to be my December Guest Blogger when she posted her Midnight Media feature. I loved her random shots and photography abilities to set herself apart from the sea of bloggers, not to mention she blogs from Indonesia (super cool) AND she has met Christian Louboutin. Enough reasons for you to know why she is CollegeFashionista's December Guest Blogger and if you don't already follow Glisters and Blisters I suggest you begin to read it! Enjoy my Q&A with Michelle.
CollegeFashionista: Hey Michelle! Great name for a blog- How did you think of it?
Michelle Koesnadi: Thank you ? My blog name derives from my believe that in fashion sometimes we have to suffer a little bit in order to look good (hence “glisters” and “blisters”). For example, you can look cute and comfy in flats, but you can never achieve the sexy lean leg effect you get with heels even though they hurt.
CF: Where do you live and blog from?
MK: I live and blog from in Jakarta, Indonesia.
CF: Who takes your photographs?
MK: I use a tripod and a remote about 95% of the time. Sometimes I get my friends to help when they’re around or when I’m planning some sort of photo shoot.
CF: Where do you attend college?
MK: I’m a business student with a certificate in Retail Managing (Fashion).
CF: Favorite outfit you have ever featured on your blog?
MK: This is a tough one as I have a favorite for every different occasion. My etoupe post is my favorite for my everyday outfit. My a tinge of red is my favorite for my Saturday night out outfit. Last but not least, this is one of my favorite photos.
CF: What is your go to piece this season?
MK: This fall season is one of my favorites so it’s kinda hard to pick a piece. I’d say anything glamour grungy like ankle boots with oversized sweater and a sleek oversize clutch is perfect.
CF: Best places to shop around where you live?
MK: There aren’t much shops around my home, but there are LOTS of great food vendors around. Food is second to my interest in fashion. I love street vendors as much as fine dining. If anybody comes over to Jakarta, I’d be glad to take them on a culinary tour! My favorite shops are at the mall, which is about 45 minutes drive away from my home. Indonesians tend to shop, hang out, eat (do pretty much anything) at the mall! There’s no “shopping street” or a Beverly Hill type of arcade here.
CF: Describe your personal style in two words?
MK: Eclectic, mood-based
CF: Where do you see Glisters and Blisters in the future?
MK: Glisters & Blisters in the future will probably have a little side business in fashion. It could be clothes, bag, shoes, or anything really! Having a career within the fashion scope is definitely something I’ve always wanted to have.
