Without a doubt, the trendiest fabric of the season is leather. The traditional connotation of leather pants is a rough, tough masculine look, but that has all been challenged in the past season. Pants, skirts, shirts, accessories and even dresses have all been seen with their own twist on the leather trend. Leather is seen all over the runway in so many different ways. The MCQ Alexander McQueen fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show was studded with the ever-popular fabric. The look has been transformed to something people with all different styles can relate to. Feminine and preppy adaptations have become common. Leather is just a component of the revival of fashion from past decades, from the ’70s revival which also brings fringe accents to the ’90s grunge revival, which has made plaid a staple again.
What I love most about the look is how wearable it is. It translates so well from the runway to everyday life. Leather pants don’t have to be stashed away for rock concerts anymore, but can easily be worn to class with a sweater. There is also so much versatility in the trend. Leather is appropriate for almost every occasion, from dinner and drinks to a casual trip to the coffee shop. My leather pants have become my favorite winter staple. I paired my leather bottoms with suede ankle boots,a simple black V-neck and stacked bracelets. The monochromatic color palette is broken up by the different textures.
Get My Look: 1. Black skinny pants. 2. Stackable bracelet. 3. Oversized black V-neck.
