Being on the lower tier of the college hierarchy is difficult; you’re technically still young but you’re an adult now. How do you remain casual yet also go to class looking like you mean business?  You want to look grown up enough that people will take you seriously but you also don’t want to look like a tween. That’s the dilemma that I tackled with this outfit. My solution? Take sophisticated pieces and add youth to them by adding a contrasting piece.
Drawing inspiration from the classic Chanel look and Chanel’s fall 2015 couture collection in look seven, I took the working woman and added some youth and street style.
To recreate this look, I based my outfit around this very Chanel-like top; the lightweight ribbed-knit material screamed Chanel. The slight sheerness to it added a youthful flair and makes it a perfect transitioning piece between summer and fall. To toughen up the outfit, I paired the top with black distressed denim shorts. Following the collection’s look, I went with black booties that are perfect for walking to and from classes and a bold red lip for some color. For accessories, I added a wide brimmed hat for a Parisian touch, sunglasses to be New York City-chic and a kate spade bag.
The classic black and white color scheme not only follows Chanel’s trend during their fall 2015 couture runway but also the ever chic New York City vibe.
