Summer is synonymous with florals. Fun, flower print pieces are a no-brainer for achieving effortless warm weather style. So it comes as no surprise that designers have been showing florals in their resort collections. My favorite interpretation of classic florals came from Karen Walker’s resort 2016 collection. The designer, most well known for her retro shaped sunglasses, showed bright, retro inspired floral prints on dresses, tops and pants. I absolutely loved the vintage and feminine feel of this collection.
I wore this Karen Walker-inspired look to a Topshop fashion show in Chicago! I was drawn to this floral Topshop skirt because it looked like something I would find in the ‘60s. I love the bright print and exposed front pockets. I also find that the length of Topshop skirts are usually very flattering for my height. I wanted the skirt to be the focal point of my outfit, so I paired it with a simple, but very feminine strapless crop top. I love the little lace detail and layering of this top. A white crop top is such a versatile piece for summer. You can dress it up with a skirt and heels or wear it with high waisted denim shorts.
To complete my look, I chose to wear neutral wedges (I’m usually a flat shoe person) and my favorite bucket bag because it’s big enough to hold my camera. I plan on wearing this skirt again paired with a denim shirt and gladiator sandals for a more casual day.
Get My Look: 1. A colorful floral skirt. 2. A strapless crop top. 3. Comfy wedges.
