At the house of Balenciaga, architecture is taken very seriously and Alexander Wang knows he has some big shoes to fill with each collection. Wang has been particularly respectful of the couture of the house, but it’s needless to say Alexander Wang took his right course at Balenciaga as he presented its spring 2015 collection.
Floor-sweeping hemlines, caged ensembles, partially sheer two-piece suits and of course embroidered decor flooded the runway. This collection brought harmonious asymmetry and style inspiration into transitional wear, perfect for our current transition into spring.
I incorporated this collection with just one color, three textures and three simple pieces. I knew the most important aspect of the silhouette was an architectural piece, so I grabbed my lace embroidered crop top and paired it with my cutout skort to create a two-piece ensemble. My trend obsession for the season is all about sheer, and since Balenciaga and I see eye to eye on this trend, I threw on my long black cardigan. This cardigan adds a classic and simple yet dramatic effect on the overall look while maintaining class. To incorporate the pastels of the collection, and to make this look a little more fierce, I threw on my favorite platformed Chloé heels. For completion I added my Prada sunnies, vintage Givenchy handbag and daily accessories.
Wang at Balenciaga took the most daring combinations to curate a fierce spring line that is sure to capture the eye. The desire to feel fierce will never go out of fashion, and that is exactly the inspiration behind this collection.
Get My Look: 1. A statement sheer piece. 2. Embroidered architecture. 3. Chunky platforms.
