During the week, how easy is it to get caught up in daydreams about the warm sand, waves crashing, and the cool salty breezes? Fortunately, it isn’t hard to bring those daydreams of our favorite beach getaways with us into the city. If you’re pining away for the beach, perhaps a few summer prints and pastel colors in your outfit can satiate your coastline blues. No sand required.
The streets of New York City drastically vacate as the workweek creeps to an end. Several beaches such as Montauk, Rockaway and the Jersey Shore are just within Manhattan’s reach. On Friday evenings, everyone heads to the water to lie out, surf and relax near the ocean waves.
For the duration of the days in between the weekends, one of my favorite things to do is dress like I’m going to the beach, even if I’m not. A lot of people around the streets of the city are doing the same. For those of us that have limited beach time over the summer, dressing like you’re at the beach is (almost) as good.
This Fashionista recreates her favorite beach vibes by sticking with a lot of whites. Weather in Manhattan can be brutally humid, so she stuck with a white flowy top that can stay cool while running around the corner during coffee breaks. She paired this cool shirt with some white espadrilles, a Louis tote, and storm grey shorts, followed by the inclusion of some blingy rings.
One Simple Change: To update this look for a vacation, I would add some fun retro white sunglasses and a white Top-Shop Monokini to wear underneath for when you’re actually at the beach!
