I know that any flight over two hours can make some people restless. As I prepare myself for a four-hour flight from Cleveland to Las Vegas, I wanted to share the necessities of surviving a long flight.
1—Makeup bag full of travel-size toiletries
I picked up a brand new Clinique makeup bag at the thrift store and it’s wonderful for holding travel-size toiletries. Sitting for four hours doesn’t seem like that big of a deal but it can be exhausting, especially if you’re changing time zones. That’s why I recommend stocking your makeup bag with makeup wipes, chapstick, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, bobby pins, an extra hair tie, and perfume. Practical things that could possibly save you when you’re 29,000 feet up in the air.
2—Water bottle
Bringing an empty water bottle to the airport and then filling it after you pass through security is more than just sustainable. You’ll also have more to drink than the person sitting next to you. Usually, airlines offer refreshments that are always miniature and they never leave you feeling hydrated.
3—Headphones
Headphones are already something you can’t leave the house without. Listening to music or watching Netflix makes time fly by! The show I’m saving to binge watch is Jane the Virgin. The person next to you could also snore and that can be extremely unsettling. Just don’t forget these bad boys.
4—Laptop
Watching Netflix on your phone can drain your battery pretty quickly. Save your phone battery and even charge it while watching Netflix on your laptop. The battery on a laptop lasts way longer than the battery of a phone. So save some percentage to let your parents know you made it!
5—Sunglasses
Last but not least, I recommend bringing sunglasses. Depending on the time of your flight, the sun will peek in through the window just enough to be extremely aggravating. They also come in handy when you don’t want people to know you’re sleeping. There are times when I can’t sleep if I think people are looking at me. If you do forget sunglasses, definitely stop at one of the shops in the airport to grab a pair before takeoff!
