Let’s face it, people love to hate on winter. Sure, the bone-chilling winds, stark air, and slush covered streets aren’t great. But rather than lounging around all winter break and binging on The OA, let’s get outside and embrace what cold weather can offer us.
Here are an assortment of leisurely activities to spend quality time with friends or even treat yourself with some alone time during the coldest season of the month.
Hit the Slopes
Whether you’re a beginner, novice, or expert, skiing and snowboarding are fun sports to take full advantage of a snowy terrain. As a part-time snowboard instructor, I totally recommend to learn how to snowboard (or ski, if that’s your preference) because it’s an exhilarating experience that is super rewarding. Don’t forget to bundle up in a cool jacket for optimum warmth.
Play BoardgamesÂ
Are you snowed in? Then, round up the #GuruGang, brew a fresh pot of tea, and play some boardgames. Nothing complements each other better than game pieces and lattes. Get off your phones and live in the moment of spending memorable time with each other. Pick up this vintage-inspired Clue and sleuth it out like Nancy Drew.
Go Ice Skating
Layer up in parkas and leg warmers as you skate away your worries. Keep your hands warm in a pair of adorable mittens. This is perfect for casual day out with friends or date night. Plus, it gives you an excuse to try out Blair Waldorf’s mismatching all-plaid outfit.
Have Your Nose in a Book
Stay cozy indoors snuggled up to a good read. I recommend the highly awaited release of Abbi Jacobson’s Carry This Book. Jacobson creates a delightfully weird series of illustrations that is a must-have. It’s a world of what would celebrities, historical figures and yes, Ilana and Abbi from Broad City would carry in their bags.
Sink into Bubbly Bathwater
After a long day of being outside in the frigid cold, relax, and drop a bath bomb. Lush’s pink flamingo reusable bubble bar will remind you of summertime drinks by the pool. Keep calm, soak in the suds, and hit play on your favorite playlist because you deserve it.
I’m always looking for ways to shake up my winter routine (and step away from the Netflix). So let us know what are you doing to stay busy this winter in the comments below!
