Hey Fashionista/os! My name is Makenzi Adams, and I’m an Advertising and Marketing Communications major at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Originally I’m from upstate New York (think near Canada), so the city is a new, exciting and very different place for me to be! After being in the city for just a couple of days, I’ve already become inspired by the incredible street style New Yorkers naturally have.
Studying Advertising and Marketing Communications at FIT is a dream. I have always loved writing/reading about fashion and very recently fell in love with public relations and marketing. Being in one of the top cities for fashion is an amazing bonus, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me here!
When I first got my hands on a fashion magazine, I knew it was what I wanted to make a career of. The glamorous photos and words that flowed beautifully to describe a look enamored me. Being a fashion journalist, and working with public relations in the fashion industry is the ultimate career goal.
My absolute favorite thing about fashion is that it gives people an outlet to express themselves through clothing and accessories. Fashion allows me to showcase my creativity and portray who I am to the world, without even speaking a word and that is truly amazing.
My personal style can be classified as modern and chic. I love to get inspiration from Lauren Conrad, Miranda Kerr and of course Blair Waldorf (or any of the characters on Gossip Girl to be honest). I wish I could say I love to wear bright colors, but I have a slight obsession with black, grey and white clothing. Typically, you can find me in either an A-line skirt, any type of dress or a giant sweater paired with dark wash skinny jeans.
In this look, I’m wearing an adorable little black dress (LBD) and black cutout booties with a peep-toe. I chose to accessorize with a gold statement necklace, bracelets, a pair of sunglasses and two gold rings, as well as a large black tote!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this fall. Writing about fashion always puts a smile on my face, and I can’t wait for all of you to read my upcoming posts! Until then, stay #RAD!
