This is the point in the story when we cue “One More Time” by Daft Punk and I tell you about that one time I almost got Kylie Jenner to pose for my CollegeFashionista post. Okay, maybe that bit about Kylie isn’t exactly true (a girl can dream!). However in past semesters I have been lucky enough to document tons of other amazing Fashionistas/os with equally enviable style and posh. I promise it’s not all downhill after my Kylie joke. Let’s get to properly know each other!
My name is Maria Isabel, but unless you’re my mother when she’s really mad you don’t have to call me that. You can just call me Maria. I have lived in New York my entire life and I kind of like it here. I am also currently a senior at Hunter College as a Media Studies major. I’m an older sister to two amazing girls. We’re almost a decade apart, but rest assured that when I take my “big girl” cap off, they can count on me to sing every lyric to Frozen.
Although meeting and photographing Kylie Jenner for CollegeFashionista was just a figment of my imagination, a couple of other pretty cool things have been happening to me. While I was on Style Guru hiatus two semesters ago, I was given the opportunity to intern for Seventeen magazine as a marketing intern. This was all thanks to someone very special over at the CollegeFashionista team who really hooked a girl up. I learned so much there and let me tell you, the beauty sales were no joke. MAC eyeshadows were on that dollar store flow. Another cool project I have been undertaking is a Youtube channel. My username is TheBigAppleBeauty and I enjoy posting videos about my obsessions with makeup, fashion and maybe Ed Sheeran. Don’t judge.
As much as I love it, life can get pretty hectic living in the heart of the city. That’s why sometimes there’s nothing quite like the sound of silence and the smell of some warm chamomile vanilla tea. I guess this is why my style tends to be very versatile and reflect both of these worlds. I have recently been loving my white high-low tank top, which is the perfect piece to dress up or down. I love playing with different silhouettes, so naturally I would pair this flowy shirt with something more fitting like my black skinny jeans. As for shoes, I think any kind of platform is the way to go. These platform sandals can look very chic in either skinny jeans or a sundress.
I’m so happy to be back as a Style Guru this semester because being part of the CollegeFashionista family is seriously #RAD in so many ways. This semester is going to be so awesome that I am getting excited just thinking about it. Make sure not to miss out on the adventures that await us by following me and clicking the rad heart on my page. See you soon!
