Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Morgan and I’m a 3rd year at the University of Virginia. This is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I loved every bit of the first semester, so I’m extremely excited to be back and doing it again!
A bit about me: I’m a Media Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies double major. Basically I study a weird hodgepodge of communications, digital media, women’s history/rights, LGBTQ rights/info, etc. Both are huge passions of mine. In the future, I hope to be working PR for a fashion company or as a general social media manager. I’m passionate about the dynamics of social media and I see it changing a lot in the future. Currently, I study Korean, but in the past I have spent time learning Spanish and Chinese as well. I also spend a decent chunk of my time making YouTube videos on fashion, beauty and lifestyle related topics.
Random fact: as pictured, you can also see I have a tattoo, which I got for my 20th birthday. It says “simply breathe.” It was an important marker in my life and the best decision I ever made. I would love to get more tattoos in the future and am already planning my next (sorry, mom).
For my outfit in this bio, I just wanted to showcase a style that I’m loving (rather than my general favorite pieces). I just can’t get enough of the ’70s trend that is coming back in style. Here, I’m wearing my newest two pieces that represent the trend: my black bardot top from Topshop and dark flare jeans. I think both are universally flattering no matter your size and make for the perfect fall transition pieces. My shoes are just my old, “found-them-on-sale” cutout heels from Urban Outfitters.
Overall, my usual fashion philosophy is to wear what makes me feel good. I’m not a huge fan of tight clothing or extremely short clothing and though my mom would love for me to wear more skirts, I’m not into those either. If it doesn’t make you feel happy and beautiful, then it’s not really fashion in my eyes. If I had to pick a favorite store, it would likely be ASOS. I’ve spent way too much money on there as is, and browse it practically everyday for new things to add to my wardrobe. As you’ll see throughout the semester, my style is usually more comfort, practicality and a lot of loose silhouettes. I hope you stay tuned for my next article!
