Hello, hello, hello! My name is Marshea Walton and I come to you as a first time Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am a junior Strategic Communication major, Marketing minor attending one of the most prestigious HBCU’s there is, Hampton University. Although my school is located in Hampton, Virginia I’m no Southern Belle. I was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey and everything from my personality to my style screams classic “Jersey girl”. I love the cold weather, I don’t mind the crowded streets and I love the fast-paced lifestyle.
Being from the north side of the states has shaped my mentality, my career goals but, mostly, my style. If I could describe my style in two words it’d be “high-end glam.” I’m always on-trend and even when I dress down I like for it to have a posh feel. My favorite seasons to dress for are fall and winter. Why? Well, because fall and winter allow you to layer your garments and create the most original attire. The colder seasons test your sartorial sensibilities. My fall and winter fashion essentials would have to be leather, fur, fringe, suede, thigh-high boots and edgy accessories. And duh, what’s life without MAC lipstick?
Besides my obvious love for fashion, I’m also a lover of all things PR, media and pop culture. After my soon to be years of experience working at the largest and best PR firm to exist, Edelman, I plan on building my brand as a celebrity publicist. To later become the CEO of my very own self-titled multi-specialized PR firm. I would love to retire with at least two books, one explaining my road to success and the other a survival kit for working in the world of fashion and entertainment. I am beyond excited to begin my internship with CollegeFashionista because it brings me that much closer to my long-term goals.
On the 15th of every month I’ll be here with a new article on all the latest and trendiest fashions on my campus. Follow me on my journey as a Style Guru this fall, and don’t be afraid to share the news! I’m a firm believer that you can have anything you want in life if you can write for it. With that being said, let’s all have a rad semester as we continue to style on.
