Hello fellow fashion lovers, my name is Shelcy Joseph and this is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista. I had so much fun this summer exploring street styles and meeting the team and fellow Style Gurus, and I want to do it all over again this fall!
I am a psychology student at Hunter College. I was born and raised in Haiti and moved to New York five years ago. I am currently pursuing my interests in fashion, marketing and communications through internships, my own freelance work and any other learning opportunities that I come across. I am very creative, adventurous and outgoing. I have a natural affinity for professions that engage these traits of my personality as well as my intellect. My long-term goal is to merge all these interests together and work in the fashion industry. To me, fashion is more than just wearing nice clothes; it’s the opportunity to keep recreating yourself and to acquire the confidence to express who you are.
During my free time, if I am not reading or blogging, I like to wander through unknown places in the city, try out new restaurants, visit art galleries and museums, engage in conversations with new people and capture moments with my camera. I am always on the lookout for fashion inspiration and New York City abounds with that.
As much as I love summer, I can’t wait for the fall season! Some staple pieces in my closet will be: a trench coat, a denim skirt, a floppy hat and a pair of knee-high boots. Bring on the chilly days and let’s face them all in style!
