STYLE GURU BIO: Samantha Roncalli

My name is Samantha Roncalli and I have a confession; I don’t really love summer.

Sure, the no-school thing is nice, and I can enjoy relaxing by a pool or on the beach. But in reality, I just never really look forward to summer the way I do the glorious season that comes next; fall.

I. Love. Fall. I love the smell in the air, the colors of the trees, pumpkins and cider and sweaters. One of the best things about going to school in New England is how beautiful it is in the fall. It’s like every day is an episode of Gilmore Girls (But really, why does it always seem to be November in Stars Hollow?).

So, now that I’ve explained my love for autumn, you’ll understand why I was beyond excited to put together my first fall outfit of the season. As well as why I knew I had to continue as a Style Guru for the fall semester. After a summer of writing about sundresses and sandals I can’t wait for boots and sweaters.

This look is perfect for one of those early October days when you don’t need your heavy coat yet, but the T-shirts and dresses won’t do either.

Dark distressed jeans are a great substitute to the ever-present leggings. They immediately pump up an outfit, and this pair is actually comfortable. I know, it’s remarkable. Plus, the darker wash is a great transition piece.

A lightweight sweater in a neutral color is a fall staple, able to be worn under jackets when the weather gets cooler. In this case I wore it with a tie-dye scarf that added some fun pattern to the otherwise basic look.

These suede slip-on sneakers are both cute and comfortable, ideal for walking around campus. Keeping accessories simple is the best way to go in my opinion. No one wants to be that girl whose bracelets won’t stop making noise during class. And finally, a tote bag finishes off the look as a way to lug around all the super fun school things like notebooks and pencils. You know, those things we all forgot about for the last three months?

This is the type of look I’d think about wearing for three days, picking the day when I’m going to be out and about the most so that I didn’t waste a good outfit on a boring day (Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this).

I feel like I thrive during the fall; the fashion is the best, the world is the prettiest and my mood is heightened.

And yes, the PSL* is back too. (Pumpkin Spice Latte. Duh).
