In my recent travels to Evanston, Illinois, the staggering lack of male boutiques was brought to my attention. It’s not that men aren’t fashionable, the market is there and they want to shop. Besides, it is mainly my men readers who choose to hear about the style advice of the week. I believe the problem lies in the fact that the fashion consumer tends to be a woman, so of course the market is heavily geared towards women. However, men want to look good too. If you ask me, fashionable men are much more apparent than their fashionable woman counterpart.
I can always spot a fashion-forward thinking male in any crowd. Typically, he is the reserved guy, who does not draw too much attention to himself. But one can tell that his attention to detail towards his outfit was more than a simple coincidence. Most men won’t admit their getting ready process in full detail, but I can guarantee they all have one. Lucky for all of you, I may have coaxed it out of this Fashionisto.
This Fashionisto is a laid-back, easy going and confident gentleman. His attire piqued my interest one afternoon while I roamed the shelves in the library. His style screamed clean-cut urban, with a sleek, solid-red sneaker to tie in this newly explored trend. I had to approach him, and I’m glad I did. We initiated in casual conversation, I told him a bit about myself, and he told me he was an Audio Production major.
This Fashionisto’s outfit exemplifies a great clean-cut style. He wore a dark green and blue flannel, layered over a clean white T-shirt. Since fall is here, don’t be afraid to use this same tactic of layering a shirt with a new cardigan, or one of your old favorites. To accessorize his layered ensemble, he wore a Herschel backpack and sleek sneakers in black. This Fashionisto gave a militant vibe when I was able to capture his attire, but his smile provided a sense of confidence, the one trait we should never leave the house without.
