As summer comes to a close and fall approaches, there is a certain sense of excitement about the upcoming season. Dust off those boots and pull out your favorite vest because fall fashion is soon to be in session!
Indiana weather is truly unpredictable. Living here for my entire life has helped me prepare for those in between months, September being one of them. It is difficult to pinpoint whether or not to sport your boots and sweater or if a simple vest and some wedges will do during this sporadic season. Walking to class a few days ago I noticed a Fashionista who was the epitome of fall fashion in Indiana.
She was wearing a simple striped T-shirt dress with a versatile vest layered over it. To complete the look she added a pair of black TOMS wedges, some silver and gold bracelets and a few rings. This look was perfect for how the weather has been treating us here in the Midwest lately. Not cold enough to be wearing boots, but just chilly enough to add a light vest to your look.
In my opinion, a vest should be a staple piece in your wardrobe. It can really complete an outfit for fall. I love the army green color paired with simplicity of the stripes. Pairing a vest or jacket with patterns will add instant dimension to your look.
One of the easiest and most well known styling secrets in the book is layering. Adding those extra layers to a simple ensemble can really make it pop. This fall, vests can do just that. Pair a pattern with a utility vest and some boots and you are ready to strut those leaf-covered streets! Don’t be afraid to experiment with color and patterns. This Fashionista really caught my eye because of her ability to adapt to the patchy weather. One thing that I learned from her was that seasons don’t inhibit certain pieces from being worn.
