Although summer isn’t technically over for another few weeks, fall decided to pay a short visit on this rather chilly afternoon in Manhattan. Completely opposite from the slew of sunny days New York has been having, the city had its first rainy day since the beginning of the semester. This kind of weather can only call for light layers and dark colors to protect from cutting winds and muddy puddles.
Keeping cover between classes, this Fashionista chose simple colors and structures as the base of her ensemble—black pants, a white T-shirt and tan flats that matched her tan Rebecca Minkoff tote. She also sported an elegant gold wrist piece with a bold blue face, giving the classic piece of pop of color.
What really grabbed the attention, however, was her black and white striped shawl with fringe tassels on the bottom. The thick, bold stripes juxtaposed with the array of thin stripes broke up the normal pattern, giving this an edgy, more modern look. Not only did the flowy piece look super comfortable to wrap up in, but it is super affordable. This Fashionista admitted she found it at Forever 21 on a recent shopping trip. Stripes are always a fashion do, but what really made this piece stand out was the fringing on the hemline.
Fringe has proven itself to be a huge trend for the fall 2015 season, as seen on the pages of countless fashion magazines and the runways of BCBGMAXAZRIA, Ralph Lauren and Ulla Johnson, but she brings this trend from the runway to real life in this versatile look.
