I am now roughly two weeks into my Italian adventure and I’ve already been stopped in the street about six times to be asked if I am studying abroad. I continue to wonder how in the world they can pick me out so easily. I made sure to Pinterest all about the Italian dress style before I came, in order to avoid sticking out. I guess I need to accept the fact that blonde hair, blue eyes and a loud English voice does shout foreigner. Although this beautiful Bella (Italians love to shout this to pretty girls) also suffers from the very obvious foreign characteristics, she has paid close attention to an important component of the Italian style. Walking the streets of Florence you see an array of fashion statements, but it is easy to pick out Italians because they have a very simplistic way of looking really good. Their fashion is far from gaudy although they always seem to have on a killer pair of shoes.
This Fashionista chose her chunky Free People heels and embroidered dress that easily succeed in making a statement. She made a smart choice in choosing a chunky heel because it can be a treacherous journey on the uneven cobblestone streets of Italy if you put on the wrong pair of shoes. The color and style of her shoes make them versatile for day and night; an important thing to consider when packing for a trip abroad. She chose a flowy bell sleeve dress that is simplistic but still speaks stylish.
The embroidered flowers and cutout in the back of the dress gives it a unique touch as well. In order to direct focus onto the main part of her outfit this Fashionista chose very simple jewelry to finish off the look. A small gold layered necklace (a popular trend right now) and a few cute rings were all she needed to help her blend into the fashionable world of Florence. This Fashionista is visible proof that sometimes less is more!
