For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with fashion. I love shoes, sweaters and statement necklaces. I live for finding top fall trends at low prices. To regrettably quote my favorite childhood dolls, “I have a passion for fashion.” For some odd reason, though, that passion never transferred into makeup.
I never wear makeup. I hate having to wake up early to apply foundation that seemingly disappears by the end of lunch. I despise not having the ability to rub my eyes or go to sleep without my hands and bedding becoming a canvas for colors previously on my face. Makeup and I will never be friends, no matter how many sorority meetings tell me to look my absolute best. Despite my turbulent relationship with makeup, I am constantly appreciating those who can perfect their daily look with a swipe of lipstick.
As school continues, one thing is for sure. Fall is coming. While crossing over from summer to fall is not an easy task, this Fashionista’s perfected purple lip connects the two seasons in ways I never knew possible. Using makeup to create a cohesive outfit is something I could only dream of pulling off, but this Fashionista makes her perfectly calculated summer/fall crossover look effortless and desirable.
Not only does the lip color scream fun, but it connects her favorite summer looks to her future fall staples. This Fashionista effortlessly paired her go-to summer colors—purple and mint—with her standard fall uniform, create a crossover even Allen Iverson would gawk at.
This look, seemingly too perfect to replicate, is perfect for those of us who wish it was still summer, but know we have to dress accordingly or the walk to bio lab might cause shivering and goosebumps. Also (super bonus), everything needed to recreate the look should already be in your closet! All you need to do is combine your favorite summer pieces, like this fun, simple T-shirt, with your top fall staples (who doesn’t have an olive army jacket?) and the fierce lipstick will do the trick.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To create your own crossover, use a bright purple lipstick in contrast with nude eyes and cheeks; this makes your lip color pop. Then, coordinate your outfit: mix your favorite fall pieces, like these colorful combat boots, with your day-to-day summer wear, such as comfy boyfriend jeans and you’ll be the coolest person in your COM 301 class. Guaranteed. À bientôt!
