Fall is just around the corner, and it’s time to bring out the sweater game. What’s the best part about sweater weather? Layering! It’s the perfect season to play around with textures, jackets and booties. I admit that I’m a jacket addict myself and own too many to fit in my closet. My personal favorite is pairing a sweater with a large denim jacket; it’s warm and comfy but still cute in a “rolled out of bed” kind of way. Mixing sweaters and thick knits with leather (shown above) is also a great look for fall. Add some tights, vintage accessories, fall boots and voila; you’ve created an edgy and unique look to take on all the rainy/cozy autumn weather.
The color burgundy is also a yes for fall as are all jewel tones. Dark earthy colors go well with almost every outfit as well as the changing season. If you’re like me, someone who can go a whole week in just black, a dash of color can add a nice touch and brighten up any outfit. This Fashionista put her maroon boots from Topshop together with a pop up of a burgundy blush lipstick from Maybelline. Sometimes, just a subtle hint of a brighter hue can really tie the outfit together. She’s also wearing a large denim jacket from a thrift store (it was $10 dollars!). Investing in a jacket that you can wear sweaters and heavier material under will make it versatile for the transition from fall to winter.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with fall items. Wear whatever makes you the happiest, and you’ll always feel good about yourself! Have a RAD September filled with pumpkin spice lattes (or is that in October? I tend to stick to espresso). Stay tuned for more fall outfits from Northeastern University!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Pair a bigger jacket with a mini skirt or a cropped sweater so the jacket doesn’t swallow you up.”
