Whoever said summer is only a time for color was definitely wrong! As the season begins to come to a close and the weather begins to change, more and more students have been wearing dark and neutral tones as it relates to the color scheme of their outfit. This leaves me to wonder if everyone around campus is: 1. Just as ready for fall/winter clothes as I am. 2. Sacrificing their comfort for love of their attire because after all, wasn’t it Rachel Zoe that said “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” And why would anyone risk that for even things as serious as the weather?
Though many like myself opt to wear items that sometimes lack color, gold accents are definitely an ongoing trend that can help bring the necessary pop to an outfit that may otherwise seem drab.
When thinking of this trend, I’m always prone to daydream about the classic gold pieces, like necklaces, earrings, watches and sunglasses, which were popular during the early ’90s; whether it be found within hip hop music videos, or basic street wear, many individuals would often be seen wearing simple pieces, ultimately letting their jewelry speak for itself. My favorite examples of this can be found in the new movie, Dope, that was heavily inspired by the overall hip-hop and R&B counterculture of the ’90s.
So how can one achieve the effortlessly cool vibes similar to that of a unique music star? Take a look at this Fashionisto’s gold and silver accessories. Although there is a pattern found within his ensemble, the gray tone found in the flowers contribute to the subtle vibes of the overall fit. You can’t help but be drawn to the Fashionisto’s sick arm candy; after all, who wouldn’t die a little inside after looking at his Versace ring? Not only that, but the small jewels found in his watch allow for literal shine to be shown on the darker areas of his outfit, such as his black boots and shorts.
