When I think about the spring 2016 Polo Ralph Lauren ready-to-wear collection, one word comes to mind: classic. While the vibrant florals and pastel blazers that were prevalent throughout the looks might not be my cup of tea, I appreciate the Americana vibes that only a Ralph Lauren collection can achieve. Doing what he does best, the latest batch of designs offered a fresh look on a closet staple—the striped button-up—barely buttoned and with a popped collar.
I recreated the look with my own, slightly oversized, striped button-up. As much as the Florida heat makes me want to wear my shirt almost completely unbuttoned, decorum dictated that that probably wasn’t a very good idea. In the end, I had to settle for leaving two holes open. I tucked in half my shirt to keep it from looking too shapeless. Scratch that. I really couldn’t decide if I wanted to tuck in the entire shirt or leave it untucked, so I settled for both.
You won’t catch me in colored fringed denim any time soon, so I opted for my trusty boyfriend jeans. The subtle distressing of the denim keeps the look modern, and the looser fit allows for comfort and airflow so I don’t feel like I’m sticking to my jeans. I’m all about the little details that make an outfit. A simple watch and a classic, yet sophisticated, pair of sunnies kept the outfit true to my personal style, which is what fashion is all about.
