WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

The end of summer is such a bittersweet time, but yours truly loves those little hints that cooler temperatures are fast approaching. Breezier, crisp nights and the arrival of pumpkin spice everything make me incredibly excited, but knowing how to dress for this often unpredictable time of year can be difficult. Is it still acceptable to wear cut-off denim shorts? Is it too soon to break out the leather jacket? When can I start wearing my over-the-knee boots again?! Luckily, I have plenty of sartorial inspiration around me to figure it all out!

I caught this Fashionista on her way to an outdoor concert, and her look stood out from those around her with muted boho style. Her plain emerald green camisole was the perfect backdrop for her beaded and feathered statement necklace. With its mix of brass, chains, beads and thin strips of suede, a necklace like this is the perfect accessory to create boho flair without much effort!  Layering a light cardigan over her camisole was a smart choice for a pre-fall day where the breeze can be chilly, but there’s still plenty of sunshine. Her distressed skinny jeggings are super on trend (look at those rips!), and their rich blue is a natural complement to the jewel-toned camisole.

What really made her look stand out were the subtle menswear inspired finishing touches. The marled slouchy cardigan has an “I stole this from my hipster Ivy League boyfriend” vibe. Her large chunky silver watch with a bright turquoise face provides a subtle pop of color and looks awesome in contrast with her delicate silver rings. Her carefully cuffed jeggings paired with dove-gray desert boots, in super on-trend suede, is a borrowed-from-the-boys look that gives this feminine Fashionista an edgy androgynous twist.

One Simple Change: Take this look from boho to edgy by tucking the jeggings into black heeled boots, and swapping the cardigan for a leather jacket. Replace the feathered statement necklace for layers of thin silver chains, and you’re ready to brave the chillier fall temperatures for a night out!
