I’m not going to lie; the summer/fall transition is always the toughest seasonal transition for me. Being a resident of the good (read: hot) ole’ Sunshine State, it is always hard to kick the shorts to the curb for a pair of pants. But, when the fall fashion trends start to show themselves I just can’t seem to stop myself from rocking a cold weather trend while the average temperature is still in the 80s. The trends that inspired this fall look came from the abundance of midi skirts seen on the runway this season. From alice + olivia to Gucci to your favorite fashion icon, midi skirts are everywhere!
I fell in love with this skirt because of the unfinished hem detail and its resemblance to the skirts seen in the Gucci show previously mentioned. I have been absolutely loving the unfinished hem trend on jeans, but it is still way to hot for that at the moment, so this is a nice alternative. The army green color of this midi skirt is the perfect option for the fall time and parallels the colors seen on the runway. I paired this skirt with a simple high neckline top and a leather jacket to give the look an edgier feel. I love the free-spirited vibe of the Gucci look, but this skirt called for some edge.
Unlike the Gucci look, I kept the accessories to a minimum. With such a voluminous skirt, I did not want to over power the outfit with chunky jewelry or a large bag. For shoes, I wanted to go with something that gave my already long legs a little more length. This pair of ankle strap heels did just the trick, by making sure the midi length didn’t cut me off!
Get My Look: 1. A frayed midi skirt. 2. An edgy leather jacket. 3. Ankle strap heels.
