STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: How to Fake Fall Weather

If you’re a Fashionsta/o living in a state where it’s perpetually sunny and warm, you most likely know all too well that seriously frustrating feeling when all you want to do is transition into your fall wardrobe, but you also don’t want to suffer from a heat stroke. Trust me, as a resident of Southern California, I feel your pain! 80 degree weather in October is definitely not ideal. However, since you can’t snap your fingers and change the weather (although that would be pretty nice), you might as well fake it ’til you make it.

Now, before you throw on your newly purchased shearling coat and suede over-the-knee boots… consider a more happy medium. Beauty might be pain, but it’s definitely not misery. A few pieces of advice from one Fashionista to another: first, opt for a lightweight fabric when incorporating a trendy fall piece. Second, if you are going to attempt to layer, choose looser fitting clothing so you still have some breathing room. Lastly, it’s always a good idea to leave some skin exposed. Let’s leave the full coverage to those who actually experience a seasonal weather change!

This Fashionista made all the right moves to comfortably fake a warm fall in Southern California. Her top follows the twisted hem trend that is so popular right now. However, instead of a cotton-blend or a knit fabric, her blouse is linen–perfect for giving her a little extra ventilation. She layered the top over a bandeau rather than a full length camisole to give the effect of layers without having to go the full nine yards. Her trendy cargo pants are, again, right on the mark for fall. However, she’s not going be overheating in them. With the loose fitting, boyfriend style of her pants, she’s going to remain feeling easy, breezy and beautiful. Rather than going for a tall pair of boots, this Fashionista went for a shorter length pair of booties, which conveniently leaves some skin at her ankles exposed. She added a few cool accessories like her chunky coin necklace and dainty nose ring to finish off this trendy, and SoCal wearable, look for fall.

With this look, this Fashionista shows us that temperature doesn’t have to diminish one’s trendiness!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it comes down to it, the most important thing for me is that I feel comfortable. If you don’t feel comfortable, people are going to pick up on that, no matter how trendy your clothes are. If feeling comfortable means you have to make a few adjustments, then adjust away!”
