STYLE GURU STYLE: '70s Vibes

Fall is officially in the air, which means crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice lattes and ’70s trends! That’s right, don’t put your summer kimonos in storage just yet because fringe is here to stay. A major trend in this season’s catwalks include ’70s-inspired garments, like this fringe poncho from Burberry Prorsum’s fall ready-to-wear collection. This entire collection definitely has some ’70s vibes going on, in a chic and current way. Fringe, geometric shapes, bold colors and bell bottoms are essential to the ’70s look. In this collection, I especially love the use of jewel tones mixed with neutral earthy colors. The bold mixing of patterns are used in a genius way and are also a throwback to the ’70s.

I was definitely inspired by this throwback trend with this outfit. I translated the ’70s trend with this crochet fringe vest and this cranberry bell-sleeve dress. I complemented this look with some black chunky platforms, a wool wide-brimmed hat and some knee-highs to accommodate for the chilly Ohio weather. Finally, I layered bracelets and rings to bring this look together. I love that these pieces can be used both during the warmer and cooler seasons. The deep cranberry color of the dress is perfect for fall, but the length and the airy quality make it appropriate for summer as well. The key to transitioning summer clothes into the cooler months is layering: whether it be knee-highs with dresses and skirts or sweaters over crop tops.

Get My Look: 1. A jewel-toned dress. 2. A fringe vest. 3. A wide-brimmed hat. 4. Chunky platforms.
