STYLE GURU STYLE: Aspiring Aesthetics

Friends, fall is officially upon us and, frankly, I could not be happier. This summer (at least here in New York City) lasted way too long so I am thrilled for layering season. As I progress in the world of fashion, I think it is important to claim a specific wardrobe aesthetic per season; something that sets you apart from everyone else—your personal brand, if you will. I’ve decided to go with black (as usual), white, gray and navy and keep everything in my closet very minimalistic this fall/winter. Casual-chic with a dash of high end is what I am aiming for. Lately, I have been inspired by The Row’s (my favorite collection is fall 2014 ready-to-wear) cohesiveness of both the aforementioned colors and aesthetic. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen incorporate their personal style into an effortless and chic high end ready-wear brand and I am obsessed. I appreciate the loose fitting looks throughout the entire collection, which I feel work best in the fall. I tend to gravitate toward outfits that are a balance of loose and fitted or just completely loose, as I love to feel comfortable.

I have been a huge fan of the trend of wearing tunics or sweaters with culottes or midi skirts so I strived to make this trend fit my personal style. It isn’t quite the time to wear turtlenecks yet, so I opted for a gray mock turtleneck, which gave me more of a loose feel. Keeping up with trends, I paired it with a black midi skirt. I don’t know about you, but I love patent leather boots and I finally found the pair of my dreams (I wear them with just about everything). I love incorporating navy with blacks and grays so my Banana Republic mini messenger bag was perfect—it also works for days when you’re on the go and want to keep your look casual yet polished. Pulling my look together, I was prepared for a windy fall day with an oversized gray scarf.

Get My Look: 1. Any mock turtleneck. 2. A black midi skirt. 3. Patent leather boots. 4. Oversized scarf. 5. Leather messenger bag.
