I am not going to lie, I get bored of my appearance easily. I’m constantly going between straight or curly hair, changing up my makeup routine and growing my hair out only to quickly chop it all off. The one thing I have run out of lust for changing, though, is my hair color. After a few poorly done, at-home coloring sessions (done by me at a not-so trustworthy age of 14) I decided that my natural hair color was best for me. However, I can’t help but pine over the girls and guys I see around campus rocking ombre, metallic and brightly colored locks. There are plenty of these students confidently taking on college, this Fashionista’s look in particular has taken a page out of Halsey and Kylie Jenner’s book and picked a daring shade of teal. She picked the perfect color to complement her edgy and creative sense of style.
Your hair is a great way to amp up your outfit. When your outfits are simple you are given the prime opportunity to go crazy with your hair, whether it’s the color, style or cut. This Fashionista used a simple color palette consisting of mostly black and white and added some color or texture with a denim dress. Since her outfit was relatively simple and neutral, her locks stood out even more and became the focal point of her look. She left her hair down and natural so nothing would take away from the vibrancy of her curls.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: Dying your hair can be a damaging process. When bleaching your hair to prep for the color, use an ion conditioner to prevent your hair from becoming brittle. Bleaching can be difficult, but it is important to get a vibrant color. After you’ve dyed the hair, use color safe or sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to keep the color longer. Pick up some cute hair accessories, too! Choose ones that will stand out against the new hue you’re rocking!
