If you’re like me, you don’t tend to notice some of the details in the clothes that you buy when you’re shopping for the latest trends. Looking through my closet the other day, I realized that a color I would have never considered wearing in my college life sticking out in my closet: pink.
Designers have given pink an appearance in their lines on the runway this season, such as Shayne Oliver’s Hood By Air spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. His use of androgynous male and female models has given this color a new meaning as they walked the runway in pink-toned skirts, pants and dresses. Pieces were paired with neutral tones that wouldn’t overshadow or exaggerate the pink to give it a classic feel. Pink has now strayed away from the lady-like aspect to give it a bold, sensuous tone that can be worn by anyone.
Taking note of my newly acquired pink cropped sweater, I decided to play around with the looks I saw from New York Fashion Week with these designers to reflect this new style. I paired it with high-waisted black shorts to keep a simple outfit combo. To add some flair (and warmth) to the outfit, I put on my textured over-the-knee socks.
For my own twist, I decided to include a feminine look to the outfit to reflect my own personal style. Draping a pearl necklace around me and matching it with other accessories, such as pearl earrings and a jeweled bracelet, helped to pull all the pieces together for a classy appearance.
