DSQUARED2’s fall 2015 show was all about statement pieces and out of this world prints. Military-esque jackets and large fur vests were among the many looks that set the Victorian era tone of the show. I love this show because it could easily be translated to everyday looks; military-green cargo colored jackets are owned by almost every Fashionista because they match with virtually everything and almost every retailer sells them.
This Fashionista did a killer job of rocking the military green color. The printed sleeves of her jacket added something extra to her look. Her outfit instantly reminded me of DSQUARED2’s fall line. I love that high fashion can be taken and made into an everyday look. This Fashionista also added a burgundy infinity scarf to keep warm from the crazy wind. The burgundy color brought out the reddish hues in the sleeves of the jacket.
When wearing a printed piece it’s important to keep a neutral base so the outfit doesn’t get too crazy. This Fashionista paired her jacket with black leggings and black boots, both of which matched perfectly and didn’t take the focus away from the print. Personally, I think black is the best neutral color because it matches with literally everything and it’s a classic color.
How To: When you want to add a print to your look, make sure you keep the focus of the outfit on that one piece. You can do this by keeping the rest of your outfit neutral; for example, pair a patterned sweater with plain blue jeans.
