The first snow has already fallen here in Montana. The cold weather means it’s time to bring out the cozy sweaters, peacoats and boots. However, you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort just because the weather has changed, although this may mean that it is time to retire your favorite open toe booties for the winter. That also means that it is time to bring out the cold weather clothes. Layering does propose a bit of a challenge because it is important to make sure that you’re warm above all else.
I found my inspiration from the BCBGMAXAZRIA 2015 ready-to-wear collection. My look is based on the tall boots and layering different textures and patterns to create a unique yet neutral and classic look. In the BCBGMAXAZRIA collection, the looks are all about layering different pieces that prove to be both functional and stylish. What caught my eye in this collection was how the looks paired different textures and patterns together. Many of the looks incorporated neutral based colors that go with basically any and all wardrobe essentials. This gives each look a slightly more classic look with a bit of a high fashion touch. Several of the outfits had over-the-knee boots, which give any outfit an edgy, dressed up feel. Another trend in this collection included turtlenecks. High neck items are trendy for the season, as well as very functional in the cold weather.
My outfit was based upon some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, which all have different patterns, yet they work together in a way that transforms the look into an unexpected, versatile look. The embroidered slip is a sheer dress that is worn over a black pencil skirt and long sleeve T-shirt. The coat can be worn in several different ways to achieve several looks, either open or buttoned. Along with the versatility of the peacoat, it can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. The outfit all comes together with the addition of the boots. Over-the-knee boots give a slightly sexy and bold look to any outfit, and they also are very warm for the winter months. Experiment with different outfits with over-the-knee boots. They look good with several different lengths of dresses and skirts.
