The weather outside is frightful, but the fashion is so delightful! You aren’t sick of my horrible puns yet are you Fashionistas? As fall comes to a close, I wanted to share one of my favorite looks from this past season.
Neutral tones—black, white and gray—have always been my go-to colors of choice when picking an outfit. While some may find these choices boring, these colors have been brought to life and back on-trend through a variety of popular designer’s fall collections. Fan favorites Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Tom Ford focused on black and white designs with a twist. Lesser-known designers also picked up on this trend. For example, Junya Watanabe’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is undeniably unique and quirky but keeps things from being too chaotic by focusing on a simple color palette. Specifically, Watanabe’s show highlights neutral colors while playing with geometric shapes to create an edgy look.
I gathered inspiration from Watanabe’s show to plan this outfit. I paired a simple Abercrombie & Fitch gray dress, with a loose, yet structured, black cape from Madewell and a symmetrical silver necklace from Free People. I finished off my look with classic Sam Edelman black booties and a Free People statement ring. I stuck to Watanabe’s neutral array of colors but took a more lenient interpretation of her structured shapes and patterns. Instead of an avant-garde honeycomb scarf or coat I simplified this trend down to wearable jewelry and an on-trend cape.
This collection is an amazing source for fall outfit inspiration. In fact, several hot trends are featured throughout the show including turtlenecks, leather leggings and studded shoes. Feel free to take a look through the images and create a look of your own! The possibilities are truly endless.
