This year it was Banana Republic‘s first time in the New York City lineup for fall 2015 ready-to-wear, and they did not fall short of my expectations. Their classic, chic style was not lost as they succeeded at being up to trend as well. Structured jackets were paired with slouchy sweaters and fitted ripped jeans for a look that appealed to the younger and older generations. This is a collection that I could picture my mother and I actually agreeing on.
Layering was a very important aspect of this collection, so I decided to take that into my inspiration. The fall ready-to-wear collection has a vast range of colors. I noticed that it was mostly neutrals mixed with highly saturated colors. My oatmeal fleece turtleneck acted as the neutral to my very bight red wool jacket. This way, the jacket can take most of the attention and not be overwhelmed by any other part of the outfit. I decided to add my brown lace-up booties as opposed to black boots because of my oatmeal sweater. Most of the Banana Republic looks were paired with black accessories, but I think brown works just as well. My simple, striped cross-body bag added to the sophistication of the collection. Also, I added a funky long necklace for my own personal flair. Lastly, to finish my outfit, I added a bright red lip just like the models. I love how it brings a wintery feel and looks fantastic with the saturated colors.
