Jeans, a cute pair of booties and a nice warm scarf are go-to staples in my winter wardrobe. If you buy the right pair of booties that are comfortable and are a neutral color, then they can be paired with almost any outfit! Scarves are the one winter accessory I love to go crazy with. From all the different colors and patterns there are out there, there is always a scarf that can play up any outfit.
As seen on the runways, plaid is a huge trend this fall/winter. Designers such as Alexander McQueen and Phillip Lim all incorporated the classic buffalo plaid patterns into their collections. My outfit inspiration comes from the Coach fall/winter 2015 ready-to-wear collection. They incorporate a lot of other elements into their collection, however the plaid coats they had on the runway were very striking and bold.
When it comes to incorporating this bold pattern into my own personal style, I tend to not go overboard with it. I am really into flannels so those shirts are statement pieces in themselves. Otherwise, when I am not wearing a flannel, I try and rock my plaid blanket scarf with most of my outfits.
Here, I decided to pair my blanket scarf with a casual denim jacket and dark wash jeans. I wore a simple black and white shirt underneath to give the outfit an overall casual look. My black booties are not overpowering, allowing the scarf to be the center of attention. To finish it off, I wore some gold jewelry to tie the outfit together. It is important to not clash with whatever plaid you decide to wear. Plaid is such a bold pattern that it needs little to no accessories or other pieces to make it work.
