While watching various runway shows for the fall 2015 season, one would definitely notice the overlapping elements that appear in several of the shows. Dark colors, high boots and fur accents have always screamed “fall” to me. These elements give an edge to the otherwise typical sweater-leggings-boots combo that most girls rock during the fall and winter months. While I love a basic outfit for lazy fall days as much as the next person, I really enjoy seeking inspiration for my outfits through runway shows.
Upon viewing the alice + olivia fall 2015 ready-to-wear show, I instantly fell in love with the main components of the show, which happen to be the aforementioned fall trends. The looks were sleek, edgy and well-tailored. The color palette consisted mostly of blacks, grays and creams, while occasionally implementing some emeralds and burgundies.
In order to work these pieces into my day-to-day wardrobe, I made a few changes to the look that initially inspired me. Simple switches, such as thigh-high socks instead of tall boots and piecing the look together with a more cost-effective vest, make it much more functional for walking to class as a broke college student. To recreate one of my favorite looks from the collection, I layered a faux fur vest from JCPenney over a simple black bodycon dress from NASTY GAL, which I paired with black patterned thigh-high socks from American Eagle and leather Steve Madden booties.
Get My Look: 1. A little black dress. 2. A fur vest (printed or solid). 3. Patterned or black thigh-high socks.
