Now that temperatures are really starting to drop, all I want to do is snuggle up under a blanket and binge watch Netflix shows until winter is over. But no one has time for that (unless it’s winter break, of course). Instead, we need to go out into the world and conquer freezing temperatures in style.
My outfit is inspired by Wes Gordon’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. It’s almost impossible to click through the photos and not see a turtleneck top on a model. Gordon likes to keep things simple yet cool, and that’s the look I was trying to achieve. I also stayed in line with his color palette, which consists of a lot of dark hues like black and gray.
With this outfit, I went for the minimalistic and monochromatic look that’s found in many of Gordon’s pieces. I kept things warm on top with a chunky salt and pepper turtleneck sweater. To balance out the outfit, I wore black skinny jeans that kept things casual. Then, I finished off with black cutout booties that feature silver stud detailing for a hint of edge to this very chic outfit.
I believe turtleneck sweaters are essential for this season. They’re effortless and versatile enough to dress up with leather pants and high heels or dress down with jeans and sneakers. It’s also easy to layer up with a winter coat or transition into warmer weather with a mini skirt and sandals. Any way you choose, you’ll be rocking the latest trend and look comfortable doing it.
