This year, the color, marsala (i.e. maroon, burgundy and oxblood), was dubbed Pantone’s color of 2015. No matter what you call it, rich wine tones are always in for the fall. This Fashionista obviously loves the color as much as Pantone does. The effect is stunning. What first caught my eye was the smart wool coat amidst a sea of North Face jackets. The easiest way to upgrade your fall look is to top your outfit with a chic wool coat. The right selection will be just as warm as any windbreaker.
Earlier this month, during the American Music Awards, there was an unexpected beauty trend on the red carpet. Everywhere you looked, stars were sporting matching lip, nail and gown colors. This Fashionista took inspiration from the trend and, just like Zendaya and many others, coordinated her lip and nail color to match her jeans. Much more appropriate for school than a gown.
Cold weather is ideal for sweaters and also playing with your makeup. Let your hair and makeup add that extra oomph to your fall outfits. It is such a simple way to bring chicness to even the frumpiest of sweaters. If you don’t want to commit to full coordination, try going for just the bold dark berry lip. Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick in Exorcism is the perfect color for this trend. A drugstore alternative would be Revlon’s gorgeous color Black Cherry.
What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: The key to pulling off a dark lip is to find a product with exceptional staying power. Matte liquid lipsticks are ideal to keep the look fresh not faded. Use a lip liner; my favorite are clear universal liners because they can be worn under every color in your collection. For even more staying power, seal your lipstick in with a waterproofing product. Your lips will thank you for it.
