Hello World! My name is Kaitlyn Chitvaranund, I am a student at Kent State University and I am majoring in fashion merchandising. Ever since the seventh grade, I knew that I wanted fashion to be a part of my daily life. Being at Kent pursuing my passion, it feels like a dream. I went from drawing sketches with my friends to learning about the fashion industry and how it works. In class, I have moments that make me realize that I am on the right path and that this is what I want to do for the rest my life. It feels unreal, but I am ready to learn and start what will be the rest of my life.
I am from Burtonsville, Maryland. I live with my parents and my brother and sister. Besides fashion, I enjoy playing volleyball, hanging out with friends and binge watching Netflix. Being from a small town, I did not get much exposure to the fashion industry. The closest I could get was going to the mall, reading magazines and watching TV shows such as Project Runway and How Do I Look. I remember worshipping Jeannie Mai and wanting to be just like her, including dyeing the tips of my hair blue, which my mother would not allow. When shopping with my mom or my friends, they came to me asking for style advice, which I did not hesitate to give. Even to this day, I enjoy sharing my thoughts and helping others look and feel great in what they are wearing.
Fashion is an expression of who you are and how you feel. I would consider my style to be a mixture of many styles, which include bohemian, and classic-chic. I am in love with midi dresses, blazers, ankle boots, royal blue, burgundy and coral colors and oversized sweaters. Fashion is not limited to just clothing. Along with clothing, I like to experiment with unique jewelry and new hair colors and hairstyles. My look depends on my mood. Some days, you will catch me in a sweater, riding boots and a statement necklace. Other days, I will be wearing my black suede ankle boots, a casual denim dress and leather jacket, which is pictured above. Not going to lie—I do have my sweatpants and UGGs day, but I call that comfy-chic.
This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I cannot wait to start and to share my style, advice and passion with everyone!
