What’s cuter than a couple in love? A stylish couple in love! I spotted this Fashionisto and Fashionista on campus in similar monochromatic outfits. Black and white can easily blend in to the surroundings on a dreary day, but, with the usage of accessories, this fashionable couple created a city-chic look.
This Fashionista began with a black crop top and black moto jacket adorned with zippers, which gave an edge to her look. In contrast to the black on the top half of the outfit, she pulled on a pair of white skinny jeans that created a clean, fresh look. White jeans are typically worn in the summer, but the jacket and black ankle boots made them appropriate for winter.
The attention to detail in her outfit was impeccable. The zippers on the boots matched the zippers on the jacket, creating a downtown vibe. Her maroon nail polish was perfect for late autumn, and looked beautiful with her understated gold ring and the gold hardware on her simple shoulder bag.
Her boyfriend, our Fashionisto, matched his Fashionista’s monochrome look with a similar black jacket but in leather and with quilting detail on the shoulders. Under the jacket, he had on a simple gray sweater. For bottoms, he wore a pair of black skinny jeans, which contrasted nicely with the Fashionista’s white jeans. His black Chelsea boots were almost the same as hers, except without the zippers and the heel.
This Fashionisto’s outfit was spiced up with accessories. He layered gold chains to add interest to the top of the outfit, and then he added a gold ring and a classic gold Casio watch.
This couple proved that monochrome doesn’t have to be boring. With gold accessories and subtle details such as zippers, black, white and gray have never looked so chic.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “We like to opt for simpler clothes, but it’s all about the way you put it together. Being from New York City, black is our staple color. We enjoy the boldness of the color and we try to balance it out with another color to make a simple, yet bold, statement.”
