Hey Fashionistas/os! I’m a junior at DePaul University in Chicago, studying Management and Entrepreneurship. This is my third semester as a Style Guru. I’m also a social media intern this semester, so stay tuned for some #StyleGuruLove. Winter/spring in Chicago are my favorite seasons. I use a slash because here in the Windy City, winter is our longest season and sometimes there’s still snow in May. I love bundling up in turtleneck sweaters, coats and over-the-knee boots. Plus, people tend to look a little more put together in the winter, as the near negative temperatures force us out of flip-flops and skimpy clothing.
For me, fashion is more than just pretty clothes. Fashion is what makes me feel confident and powerful. When I check myself out in the mirror before leaving my apartment, I know how my day will go. It will be a great day if I feel fantastic in what I’m wearing, and a long day if I just couldn’t figure out the right outfit.
In addition to classes, I spend most of my time running my fashion blog, Allie’s Fashion Alley. Through my blog, I’ve had the chance to work with amazing companies like Teen Vogue, People StyleWatch, and Henri Bendel. My favorite trends this season include high socks, heeled ankle boots and anything suede. I’m a big accessories person and a firm believer that with the right shoes, you can conquer anything.
