Things I appreciate the most in an outfit: simplicity, structure, layering and a hint of masculinity.
Going through every look in Piazza Sempione’s pre-fall 2016Â collection, I was instantly inspired. Every look was perfect for those chilly days during those fall days entering into winter where layering dresses, tights or light sweaters with bulky sweaters and vests is your absolute best friend. The Italian label focused on using neutral colours with splashes of orange-red and navy shades. It is the perfect transition from fall to winter vibes. The detail that draws me towards this collection the most is how all the looks have such structure to them. The masculine looks feature tailored pants layered with turtle necks draped with a simple over coat. The more feminine looks are more classic, but the structured design of every piece makes them unique.
I mentally took Look 26 of Piazza Sempione’s pre-fall 2016 collection with me when I went shopping for my upcoming winter break. I was completely drawn to how the overall outfit was so masculine-chic. The high-collared pink fur coat immediately softened the outfit’s look and added a unique personality to it. I ended up doing the opposite of this.
Since it’s getting colder and colder in Los Angeles as of late, and I am visiting China over winter break (the winters there are dry and very cold!), I immediately thought Kit & Ace. It is a company I happened upon last winter break when I was home in Vancouver! Their clothes are all infused with machine-washable cashmere. What was more perfect than practical, warm and stylish design for when I am traveling and on-the-go during the winter season? I was so lucky to shop there and have the amazing staff let me take photos of the outfit outside their store in Downtown L.A. in the Arts District! I feel in love with this outfit I’m wearing. The long-sleeved dress I have on has side-seam rushing that not only hugs your body in a flattering manner, but adds a unique detail to a classic piece of clothing. I then layered it with the softest turtle-neck sweater in the world. The sweater is chunky but the structure of it adds dimension to the clean, simple look. I wore this look with a pair of classic white Converse to follow the consistency of simplicity.
The faux fur cap is definitely what finished off the look and gave it character. I love how it immediately gives off an edgy tomboy twist to a soft look. I absolutely fell in love with this look because it is exactly what I would wear if I lived in a colder metropolis: chic, clean and cozy.
Get My Look: 1. Tight midi dress. 2. Chunky turtleneck sweater. 3. Black cap.
