Hello fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Gabby Altman and I am a recent graduate of the Film and Media program at Queen’s University in Canada. I am continuing my education with a Post-Graduate program in marketing management at Seneca College, with the intention of going into fashion marketing. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I could not be more honoured and excited.
From a young age I have been captivated by all things fashion and style. I have been told countless times that even from the ripe age of two I would insist on picking out my own clothing while shopping. Naturally, my style has evolved since wearing retro Rugrats T-shirts and on a typical day I can be spotted being made fun of by my friends for constantly wearing all black. (I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour, okay?!). While I like wearing black, my personal style changes daily mainly based on my mood. I can go from being super girly one day, sporting super chic sneakers another to being dressed head to toe in patterns.
I am from Toronto, Ontario, where I take a lot of my style inspiration from (and no, not just from Drake’s “Hot Line Bling” video—although I do totally own that whole outfit). Street style photography is definitely something I am intrigued in as one can not only see the latest trends, but the uniqueness in how people decide to express themselves. I really admire street style photographer work such as Bill Cunningham’s as he is able to perfectly capture this.
I can’t wait to get out on the streets of my college campus and share with you the various unique styles that exist. I hope you join me for the journey!
