If you know me, you know that I am always on the go. Whether it’s going to class, exercising at the gym, running club meetings or working, my planner is always full. However, a busy schedule cannot stop me from having a fashionable lifestyle.
Personally, a good outfit really makes a difference in how my day goes. If I am rocking an outfit I really like, I am more apt to be productive, social and in a better mood. Fashion as a mood booster? I’ll take it.
Aside from its ability to alter how I feel, it allows me to always express myself because it too is ever changing. I love how versatile style is. There are hardly any limitations on how you can express yourself in regards to clothing. Some days I feel like dressing in all black, while other days I want to sport vibrant colors—and either option is totally acceptable.
This outfit was inspired by the conflicting feelings I had when I woke up. I wanted to be both classy and edgy. Neither feeling completely outweighed the other, so I decided to incorporate both attitudes into one outfit.
For this outfit, I paired a patterned fitted sweater dress with colored tights. I chose maroon tights because the same color appeared in the dress. In order to avoid being completely matching, I tossed on a black and white twill overcoat. To accessorize, I kept it fairly simple with a statement necklace. The statement necklace has triangular charms on it and served as a nice juxtaposition to the more rounded pattern found on the dress.
Instead of pairing this outfit with the expected classic flat, I opted for a combat boot. My black Dr. Martens helped bring out the faux leather detail in the collar of my jacket. I really enjoy when subtle details can help pull an outfit together.
Now it’s your turn. Go out there, listen to how you are feeling and let your fashion reflect who you are!
