Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Jordyn Buckingham and I am currently a first semester junior at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I am originally from Northern Delaware and was born and raised there. Here at LU, I’m currently studying Fashion Merchandising and have a Business minor, as well as taking some fashion design classes in order to graduate with a well-rounded degree. I am considering switching my major to Advertising or Interior Design with a business and clothing and textiles minor though. I’m also involved with Teen Vogue and am acting as one of their IT Girls. I’m also one of the designers for our fashion show that will be held in April.
I have been interested in fashion as long as I can remember. When I was little, I used to draw stick figures with fancy clothes on them and make up all these occasions that the outfit would work for. As I got older, I started sketching clothes a little more and thought I wanted to pursue a degree in either costume or clothing design. Upon entering Liberty University, I declared my major as Fashion Merchandising with a Business minor because I realized that styling and marketing is more of my passion. I’d like to own my own boutique one day or potentially move to Nashville and try to work on the wardrobes for country music tours.
My style is my personal way of expressing who I am, as well as exploring my adventurous side. I’m not really sure how exactly to explain my style because it changes from day to day. For example, one day I may wear a preppy look, and the next day wear more of a boho look. I love mixing it up and mixing and matching all the pieces in my closet and seeing which interesting ways I can wear each of them. I tend to spend most of my free time browsing Pinterest and different Instagrams and sites to get different ideas for my closet. Whenever I shop now I always try to think of different outfits I could make from one single item before I purchase it. I love wearing anything that is both comfortable and cute at the same time, so I love the oversized shirts and big fuzzy socks. For me, style isn’t something that should control you—you should be able to have fun and play around with your clothes! I love putting together new outfits and pulling inspiration from other peoples’ styles, as well as trying to put my own twist on current runway looks. Fashion is fun for me, and I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. Fashion isn’t serious, it’s meant to be played around with and to make everyone feel confident!
