Hey there, fashionable people! I’m Abbie—a trend-chasing girl in disbelief that she’s already a second-semester senior at the University of Pittsburgh. This is my third semester as a Style Guru and while I am so sad that this is my last semester, I am beyond excited to find some Fashionistas killing it on campus one last time!
I have loved every second of being apart of the CollegeFashionista team. I have come to love the chase of spotting that perfect, stylish person on campus for my article every month, as well as getting to show the world my own personal looks. However, my favorite part about this internship is being apart of an organization with so many people who are just as passionate about fashion as I am. My fellow Style Gurus inspire me on a daily basis. There is no better place to turn than this amazing site to keep up on the latest trends.
Being a Style Guru has challenged me in more ways than one. It has forced me to become a more dynamic writer, hone in on my photography skills, overcome my fear of approaching strangers and wake up at the crack of dawn to meet my deadlines. I wouldn’t trade any of these hardships for the world, as this internship has lead to me to not only discovering my love of writing, but my love for fashion has flourished more than I ever knew possible. These realizations have only confirmed that fact that come graduation (a time approaching faster than ever), I want to pursue a career in the fashion and lifestyle industry.
I know that most people disagree with me, but I love styling outfits in the wintertime. Many people find this season limiting, but I see an opportunity to introduce an entirely new category of apparel into play—outerwear. I have been obsessed with the amazing outerwear trends this season. From minimalistic duster jackets, to blanket scarves, to Sherpa-collared coats, this season is all about letting your outerwear be the focus. My favorite trend and statement piece I’ve recently added to my wardrobe is faux fur. There is something so ridiculous and over the top about faux fur that it somehow becomes chic. It also requires you to embody a complete rock star attitude because if you’re going to wear a giant faux fur jacket, ya gotta own it, girl. I kept the rest of the look simple as to not compete with the jacket by wearing a pair of ripped-knee skinny jeans and nude lace-up pointed toe flats.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. Don’t forget to follow me on social media to be the first to know when a new article is up and get some behind-the-scenes looks of my shoots (and my entire life for that matter)! Also, be sure to take a look at my first STYLE GURU BIO to learn about my hobbies and where my love for fashion started. Here’s to a fashionable semester for all!
