Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Allison Yoon and I am currently finishing my last year at Michigan State University. I am a Chemistry major with a heart for fashion and entertainment. It is really hard for me to believe this is my sixth semester as a Style Guru. On campus I am the Co-Web Director for VIM Magazine, and boy can I say the experience I’ve gained through CollegeFashionista has helped every step of the way.
These last two years being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista have helped me discover my love and passion for fashion! If it weren’t for CollegeFashionista, I can honestly say that I would probably be applying for med schools right now. When I started as a Style Guru I was eager to get a wide range of experience to make sure that I wasn’t making a mistakes heading into the wrong industry. And look at that, I discovered I was. (At least for now).
In my two years of being a Style Guru I figured out my future goals, gained experience and took opportunities I never imagined possible. I’ve held multiple internships with film and fashion start ups, lived in New York City for a summer interning for upcoming designer, Morgan Clifford, and had the opportunity to advance my acting experience through internship connections.
As I look back on my first semester, with only one other Style Guru on my campus, to the fifteen this semester, and I have faith that CollegeFashionista will continue growing at Michigan State. Being a Style Guru has helped me reach out of my comfort zone and contact people I normally would’ve been too shy to confront. I’ve loved meeting new Fashionistas/os around my campus, chatting with new VIMMERs about this great opportunity and sharing the knowledge I’ve gained for writing a blog with my staffers.
This semester is going to be filled with life long memories, sad moments before graduation and amazing opportunities to look forward to post grad. The other day I tweeted that I never thought I would bleed this much green, but I can truthfully say that attending Michigan States has been one of the best experiences of my life so far. I am aiming to up my game this semester and make sure to let all of my Spartans learn how CollegeFashionista can help them step-up their everyday style game! Since winter is approaching I am jumping out of the norm to sport crazy funky coats (1. Morgan Clifford! 2. Forever 21. 3. Madewell) I’ve found over the past year around campus. Let’s see how far I can make it before I get frost bite or cave in and pull out my parka. Stay tuned to see other unique styling of Michigan State Fasthionistas/os.
