STYLE GURU BIO: Cassandra Andoh

Hey Fellow Style Gurus! My name is Cassandra Andoh, but I normally go by Cassie or Cass. I am a senior at Kent State University and I’m majoring in Applied Conflict Management. What does that have to do with fashion, you say? Well technically it doesn’t have anything to do directly with fashion but it could most definitely be used in the fashion world. With my major I am hoping to a mediator of some type. Whether it be with the government or with different types of organizations. I want to help solve problems. I was a Fashion major but I switched to what I have now because I am passionate about it career wise.

From a very young age, I have loved fashion. Dressing in the same clothes I would see famous people wearing. I always wanted to be the first one out of my friend group that would wear something that was trending but pair it with something that you wouldn’t expect. I would always go outside the box. Dressing up for me has always been and always will be my favorite pass time. I am very big in thrift shopping. I’d rather go to a thrift store and find pieces then go to the mall and spend a whole bunch on new things.

My style isn’t one way. I usually end up changing it, not knowingly, but depending on the season and my mood. On a day-to-day basis, my style can be describe as very casual, comfortable clothing that may or may not have many patterns. Recently I’ve been into wearing oversized sweaters and flannel. Dressing them up with boots or sneakers and a cute pair of earrings and bracelets for a hint of sophistication.

But when it comes to dressing up, I go with simple dresses and/or skirts with bold accents. In this case, I went with a simple lace, cream-colored dress from Ross. Matched with hot pink pumps from Marshalls and an owl necklace from a jewelry company called Park Lane.

As a person who doesn’t typically follow the style trends currently, I am excited to share my vision with others around my campus and to see how others display and represent their fashion. Our generation is evolving with fashion. I am delighted about what’s in store to come.
