Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Julianne Cavanaugh and I am a senior at James Madison University studying Public Relations. This is my third and final semester on CollegeFashionista and I could not be any happier to close out my senior year in style with this blog!
I have always loved fashion and firmly believe that there is nothing quite like putting on that perfect outfit and knowing you can take on anything that the day throws at you. I can honestly say that shopping has a very special place in my heart! When I was a junior in high school, I took a fashion merchandising class as a schedule-filler and because I loved clothes… and after the very first day, I knew I wanted a career in fashion. Here I am almost six years later, interning with CollegeFashionista and planning on starting my career in fashion after graduation!
My style is a little bit of everything, but I am definitely inspired by other people’s everyday outfits. I have a growing collection of sunglasses and I love over-sized sweaters!
In recent years, I have discovered that the fashion world doesn’t have to be just for people who want to become designers. There is a business side and I am completely fascinated with everything about it. The past two summers I have interned at two fashion public relations firms. My first internship was with Karla Otto PR. This internship taught me so much about what fashion is really about and how everything works, from celebrity pulls to fashion week! This past summer, I interned with Media Craft, which is PR for mainly cosmetics and skincare. This internship honestly made me realize that PR is what I am meant to do and helped me hone in on my skills. I now know I can have a happy medium with my job by meshing my love of fashion with PR.
It is so easy to intern in the summer and be in tune with everything going on in the fashion industry, and then to go back to school and forget it. CollegeFashionista has kept me interested and involved these past two semesters and the knowledge I have gained from this internship is irreplaceable!
I am so excited to see where this fashionable journey will take me and can’t wait to document it on CollegeFashionista this semester!
