Hello Fashionistas/os! I’m Jessica and this is my third (and final) semester as a Style Guru! I have learned so much about fashion and writing during my time as a Style Guru, I can’t wait to share my knowledge with you in my monthly articles.
I will be graduating from Elon University in North Carolina this May with a degree in strategic communications. After graduation, I plan on moving to a big city and working in the public relations industry!
The spring semester is interesting trend-wise because it begins in the winter and goes until it is nearly summer, so trends shift dramatically from the beginning to the end of the semester. Right now, I’m so excited for chunky winter pieces, like thick cowl neck sweaters or this super fuzzy coat from Old Navy.
At Elon, we have a winter term during the month of January and I was absolutely dreading walking to class at 8:30 every morning before I got this coat. I like that I can fit a whole sweater or vest under this coat. Even if I look a little puffy, I’ll be super warm!
I’m also really into brown lipstick for winter. Last season, I was obsessed with a winey plum lip, but I think that brown looks even better! In these pictures, I’m wearing OFRA liquid lipstick in Americano. I love that it doesn’t feather or feel dry, and it lasts all day!
Everyone says that “college is a time to find yourself,” and there has been no greater influence on helping me develop my personal style during college than CollegeFashionista. Writing for this website has really prepared me to enter a world where sorority T-shirts and Nike shorts are no longer acceptable. I’ve definitely discovered more of the fashion world and my place in it, and I hope that by showcasing some of the great fashion around Elon, you can, too.
